Postauricular flap for reconstruction of atrial lobe agenesis: a case report

ABSTRACT

Auricular malformations represent a reconstructive challenge given the important role that the ear plays in facial aesthetics and the need for a natural and durable result. We present the case of a 24-year-old woman with no medical or surgical history of interest except for the agenesis of the right auricular lobe, who underwent a postauricular flap with a conchal cartilage graft from the same ear. This technique allowed us to obtain a correct and stable esthetic result of the new ear lobe, as well as to avoid visible scars for the patient.



RESUMEN

Las malformaciones auriculares representan un reto reconstructivo dado el importante papel que la oreja desempeña en la estética facial y la necesidad de un resultado natural y duradero. Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 24 años sin ningún antecedente médico quirúrgico de interés salvo por la agenesia del lóbulo auricular derecho, a quien se le realizó un colgajo postauricular con injerto de cartílago conchal de la misma oreja, el cual nos permitió evitar cicatrices visibles, escondiéndola detrás de la oreja, obteniendo así un resultado estético correcto y estable del nuevo lóbulo auricular.
